RAIN
Finally! Good, clean, crisp fall rain! We have had rain here before but it was always a dry rain that usually cleared up soon after it started. But this day was perfect. Gloomy and chilly enough for beanies and sweaters. Beanies have always been my favorite accessory for the baby, since she was born in late fall. I have been kind of bummed about not having a true fall with orange and red trees and chilly nights. Fall is my favorite because the weather is perfect and of course because I love fall fashion and layering clothes. I was sad to think Pea won't see seasons change but of course quickly got over it when I realized Texas does have a fall. It is just different. The days are getting shorter and the weather is cooling way down at night and in the morning. We won't have changing trees but hey, I'll take it. Plus after fall comes winter, my least favorite. I wont be missing that. When everyone back home is shoveling snow, I will be looking at a green tree while enjoying coffee on my back porch in December. There IS an upside to everything.
Oh. She also got her first pair of Chucks! My husband and I both have never been Converse type people, but when I saw these I couldn't resist. I wanted to get her a pair of high tops for winter because she won't really need winter boots, though I'll still probably get her some because they look so dang cute on her. Of course when she saw these she freaked.

Transitioning Weather, Transitioning Baby
Adjusting to the weather. It is still pretty warm but it doesn't feel like summer anymore, yet it doesn't feel like fall yet. She has almost grown out of all of her sandals anyway. I love these oxfords on her! I bought them in the spring before we left KC thinking she would get a lot of use out of them on rainy and cool spring days but it was immediately summer weather down here in April so she didn't get much use out of them. Now that it is cooling down they are perfect but go figure, she has almost grown out of them too. I wish she would stay this size forever. She is still kind of a baby with the ability to do so much more. I know her growing up is inevitable but still....

The Boots
We went boot shopping when my sister was in town because what other place is better than Texas to get great boots? Especially with this whole western, tribal, cowboys and Indian trend going down right now. The moment Pea saw boots her size she was ripping her sandals off and she couldn't get them off fast enough. I didn't see the leftties to any of the boots out on the floor but she INSISTED she have boots on both feet. This was not a battle I wanted to fight past her bedtime hour so I stuffed her left foot in a right boot a couple sizes up. She has always had a great fascination with any shoes, mine, hers, her daddy's, any shoes she can get her little mitts on. Boots are no exception. At first I wanted a more girly pair but with only red and pink colors to choose from, I went with a classic pair. She could not be more pleased with our purchase. I almost have to hide them because if I didn't she wouldn't wear anything else and most days are still too hot for them. She's not even 2 and we already have to deal with a shoe hobby.
