Goodbyes Are Never Easy

We sang an early Happy Birthday to baby.
We feel the same way kid.
Presley knew Kate + Amélie were leaving but she really, truly thought we were going too. We were in California, Missouri + Texas, together, with a couple of days in between, for over a month + reality came for us. We had so much time together + it went by so fast. Every day the girls were together is a keepsake I'll have forever. Pres asks about her every day + tells me how much she misses her. She imitates her + asks me what color her eyes are, if she walks a lot + if she's coming to visit or if we can go see her. I try to explain that she lives far + show her how far it is on the map + that it's not as easy to travel to like California. I always promise her we will see her soon. We're able to FT + talk so that makes it easier but you can't trick yourself into not missing someone. I know we'll get to hold her again, we just hope she remembers how much we love her, no matter how far she is.
Poor babies were confused by all the ruckus.

Pretty Birds

Christmas card out takes.
They're over it.

Thanksgiving 2013

Amélie + Presley

The entire time the girls were around each other, every morning started my them looking for one another. Then silliness ensued the rest of the day. They have such a special bond + I hope that lasts forever.
Our little French pastry chef.
Both fascinated by mulch. I tell pres cats pee in it to deter her from playing with it but that doesn't always work.

Holla Kansas City

You're probably thinking…. still with the photos from 2013 + the flying pics? Alright, already enough. Well, do you see why I haven't wanted to post/do anything??? Traveling is exhausting period, but throw a toddler in there, forget it. We only had two days in TX before leaving for KC. Without her daddy, again, because of his work but she was super prepared this time. We were going to visit family because my sister + niece were flying in to say goodbyes to our relatives in Missouri before her arrival in TX for Thnaksgiving + departure for Europe. It was mine + Pea's first time back in KC since moving almost 2 years ago. I was bummed to see the city for the first time without Husby but since it was cold there wasn't much we could do outdoors anyway. Kind of forgot about the whole weather sucking big time thing. We made it a girls trip + flew with my mom which was sooo exiting for Pres because she loves her Ma'am Ma.

Once we arrived, it felt like subzero temps compared to what we were used to. Plus, coming out of CA where the grass is green, it was all very shocking. I over-bundled Pres for fear she would get sick. Surprise! She got sick anyway. Traveling breaks down the immune system plus a bunch of germ, dirty people in a plane probably didn't do much for her sinuses because she developed a tiny cold + a little couch. Defeated.I always feel like its my fault when she gets sick. Like I didn't protect her + I instantly regretted the nonstop travel that week. She got to see her cousin Michaela though, so a little cold didn't break her spirit + it was all more than worth it in the end.
Christmas at Union Station.
The conductor specifically spoke to each kid before it started + asked each of them to stay seated the whole time during the train ride. What does my kid do? Oh, she gets up + switches seats as the train is rolling. I could have died. Daredevil like her daddy + non-compliant liker her mama. Bad.
Now mowing their fate, it's kind of embarrassing posting this with the girl repping the Chiefs.
My poor baby had a cough + was exhausted so she passed out mid stroll, amidst the chaos.
3 adults + 2 babies miss their flight. Southwest was super nice + we must have looked pretty ridiculous running to our flight, just to miss it, beause they found us another option at no extra charge.
So I got coffee. KC is movin' on up with this Starbucks INSIDE the terminal. Being a Midwest native, seeing this is incredible.
These two. We looked like a traveling circus. But it was so much fun.
