The bay area is an amazing and beautiful place to go for a vacation. We enjoyed being there, but I think it is more of a place to go as a couple without children, or if your baby is a newborn or closer to 2 yrs old. Maybe that is just a better time frame in general to travel with a baby. We found it difficult to go to the smaller local restaurants and shops with a stoller. Maybe if you carry your baby in one of those backpack or slings, it would be easier to get around. I found that some people looked at us like we were morons for having a baby and acted as if we would ruin their meal and day. Maybe we just didn't do family friendly activites. I am not one to plan too much ahead and I thought we would just kind of go with the flow like we normally do, but in this case I guess we should've mapped out our day hour by hour. We had a nice time but all in all, we would've been fine with just staying in KC.

The Wharf
\
We had been having a great time in SF, but this day was truly awful and marked the turn around of our trip. I wanted to show Cory as much of the city as I could because he had never been there before, but I was trying to keep the baby on somewhat of her normal schedule so she wouldn't be over-stimulated. There was a lot of work involved with preparing for the day because the weather is different on every street and I couldn't help but feel under prepared every time we left. Getting my sisters on the same page/schedule was pretty much impossible. They didnt quite understand that hopping in a cab or on a bus to explore wasn't really an option with a baby, stroller, car seat, baby bag full of things, etc.. We would have to rely on them to take us around which meant the day started at 3 pm when we would be ready to start the day at 9 am. I mean they were an hour late picking us up at the airport! I understood they have lives, but I couldn't help being annoyed.
This day started more so in the late afternoon. We went to eat near the wharf and the baby just didn't want to be there. She was completely over everything. It was cold near the water and I didn't bring the right hat or coat for the baby. Going to my sister's place to grab another would have lost an hour of daylight, so we just had to deal and maybe cut our day even shorter. THEN, the baby started fussing and we realized she lost one of her boots! The fur lined boots were probably the only thing keeping her warm and now one foot was bare. We searched for it but never found it. I was done with that day and pretty much the whole trip. Doing that in SF would have meant a whole orchestration of events I just didn't have the patience or energy for. I felt helpless and stranded. Defeated, we went back to my sister's.
