11.11

3 years ago I went into labor, completely unannounced. I had no idea that she would be making her grand entrance into the world, fashionably late almost 2 weeks past her due date. In the middle of the night she decided she was ready to play. Party animal. She wasn't coming until she was ready on her time no matter how ready I was to not be pregnant anymore. After 22 hours of labor, she was born + changed our lives forever. She wasn't planned but she was an incredible surprise, a gift. She teaches me about life + love everyday more than I learned in all my years before she was here. I can't even remember what it was like without her.

So on this day in California, we celebrated the beginning of her journey on Earth with a boat + carousel ride in the city.

Moving Day

This day was inevitable + very difficult. We knew we had a job to do when we arranged our trip out but it all became a reality when the moving truck showed up that morning. The night before we had a packing party with our family, enjoying our drinks + laughing but we were also on edge in anticipation for the next day's schedule. The morning came quickly + we finished last minute details as the truck was being loaded by friends + family. The men moved + my sisters + I stayed in trying to keep the babies occupied + out of the way while soaking up our last week of being together as three sisters. The hours went by fast + before you know it, it was over + all that was left was us + some suitcases.

SF Fall 2013: Day 5 + 6

My sister told me about a small park up on a hill in Sausalito with really cool views so we set out to find it on a sunny afternoon. After going the wrong directions for about 30 minutes we finally found it tucked away on the most unsuspecting street in a neighborhood.

Sausalito has very intricate hilltops with the sweetest bungalows nestled along the winding roads. San Francisco has pretty steep hills, obviously duh, + incredible views of the ocean but Sausalito gives it a run for it's money. The town is a sweet little village with incredible views + fresh air. Just over the GG bridge from SF, it's like a completely different world with less fog + more sunshine. It's so quiet + serene, until our loudmouths get there.  ;)

This park was no exception. There wasn't much more than a slide + swings with a nature path behind it but wow. On top of the slide you could see the sea + mountains for miles. Every time we visit California there is more to do than we did the time before that and never any time to do it all. Which is nice because there is always something new to do.

As great as the day was to explore + take our babies to play, I couldn't help but think (because I'm a pessimist, realist, whatever you want to call it) there would, again, come a time when special times such as this day, would end + we would have to leave + go on with our normal lives. I had that sinking feeling + those heavy thoughts down every street we walked because I know we will have these times again soon, but our babies won't be so small + we won't be as young as we were that day, or today.

But for the time, we just played + I watched the water.
