Camera Roll: July 2013 Edition

Finally done with the July portion of my pics. Annoying, so over summer. I feel like our summer here is like the Midwest's winter: the weather is just too extreme to deal with and leaving the house is a pain, unless it is absolutely neccesary for mental sanity. There usually isn't a break in the heat because it will stay in the 90's way past midnight. When we went to 6 Flags, we were all on fire and we went after 7 pm. No relief. Sweat dripping off our faces. No f's given.

On the flip side, I know that winter will inevitably come and there will sunshine in December instead of ice and snow. Not complaining. Totally ok with my face melting off in the summer time just to have sunshine all year long for my baby.

desert rose

Her daddy's birthday was in July when I took these pics, but to be a broken record, again, I have taken forever to upload pics from summer. I like to play in the summer time and not work in front of a computer, so here it is, almost October and we have a lot going on still. I thought I was finally on track to scheduling these posts, but of course here are again doing catchup.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Her daddy is her hero and her best friend. She looks at him with big eyes and fascination like he is a wizard with the magic to make anything happen for her and he basically does. He will do anything and everything to make her happy. To say she is a daddy's girl is an understatement. He told her it was actually her birthday instead of his and he insisted on buying her presents once she was convinced.

The minute he held her after she was born, she started cooing in his arms. It sounded as though she was telling him about her day's long journey. Their bond was immediately cemented at that moment. They are kindred spirits and their similarities are insane. She looks like me but acts just like him. She makes his facial expressions and gestures identically. Even the way she moves her hair out of her face, is the exact way he does it. Two peas in a pod. Peas and Carrots! ha

She has his zest for life, silly personality and the ability to be so happy and positive. Don't get me wrong, she definitely has my attitude, sass and temper, but she's fun spirited like him and I want her to be more like him every day. I hope she always kicks me out of the best friend seat when he comes home from work every evening and I hope she always wants him to put her to sleep.

She is now the source of his contentment and happiness which is the most precious thing to witness.
Never thought I would be ok with another girl in my spot ;)

fortune

our amé

I uploaded these pics last week and wanted to do a post because she turned 8 months last friday but every time I went to finish, I couldn't and had to stop. As I am sure most people know by now, the cat is out of the bag, my sister and her family are moving. I didn't think any place could feel as far as California but there is a much further place. Across an ocean and not in any way driving distance.

I want to be really selfish and angry but when I look at this beautiful baby's face I have to remind myself their decision to move is truly for her, so her parents can give her the best possibilities in life. I have to keep reminding myself that we are fortunate to have them anywhere on earth, even if it is not at our convenience. People lose loved ones for numerous reasons every day and we are fortunate that they will only be a phone call away. In this world, with all of the crazy things happening everywhere, we are fortunate that the baby is healthy and happy with two parents that love her so much.

I try not to make these post about me really, mostly Pres and now Amélie but this will affect her so it hurts me knowing her only first cousin will be so far and she doesn't even get the magnitude of it yet. She gets sad now not being able to see the baby as much as we wish we could.

I want to be a big baby and cry that my sister is leaving and yell at anyone for it but I can't. I am fortunate that she is happy. I am fortunate to have a sister, two sisters! I am fortunate that I, myself, have a family with someone I love. I am fortunate that there are worse things that could happen. I am fortunate that Pea gets to know what it's like to be so loved and that she knows how to love in return, no matter how far. I am so fortunate to experience so much love in one day. We are all so rich in love.
