Camera Roll: Mid June Edition
Summer is here! Well its been here since April temperature wise but you know what I mean.
I know it's really exciting ladies but can you please ST*U + stop talking to each other while Ms. Kari reads to the babes for story time?!!?! Or when your child empties an entire tub of oatmeal from the sensory activity, can you maybe pick it up so the librarian doesn't have to??? Poop? I smell poop! Who's kid dumped in their diaper + has been sitting in it for an hour? Can no one else smell that? I even checked by kid + she's been potty trained for over a year.
I know being a mom + talking to a toddler or baby all day just isn't exciting for some + I know you just can't wait to talk about Facebook + the booze you had to shoot to "handle" your real life. I know you still want to be presumed as fun + cool to all of the others moms. Really though? It's so rude to talk over someone period, but when it is an activity that is specifically for children, let them concentrate on the storyteller + I don't know, hear the story??? In a world run by grown ups it is important to let them feel like this hour is just for them. Can you just go to a Starbucks or a mall? This is America after all. Same goes for tumbling + the park. Stop posting on social media + watch your kid. Thanks!
I'm not a perfect parent. I am trying my hardest to teach P how to respect her surroundings + the people in them to coexist harmoniously. Learning how to be patient, how to wait in line while being polite are not traits that children are born with. They have to be taught. If you can't teach them any of those things, I am sorry, but why are you a parent again? #notsorry

Camera Roll: June Week One
it's a good day when she gets a car cart, especially the blue one
Night light that she does not need during the day, so i think she just wanted it because its cool. It does stay on all night which I like because her turtle star night light turns off. She likes Sleeping Beauty + just so happened to see this when I was looking for a lamp shade.
I know a lot of parents don't allow the Disney princess whatevers, but she is allowed to watch "those kind" of movies. I do question the dialogue + content sometimes but she's a child. On most nights + on weekends she is allowed to watch animated movies. It's all a balancing act with a kid. When she spends most of her time practicing letters, playing, running, + doing what we have to do, I'm sure its nice for her to relax + watch a movie, just like I do as an adult. My husband + I both love movies so it just so happens to be something that interests her as well. It goes hand in hand with books, her favorite, because they are both stories. I saw an IG where a mom was bashing the whole "princess" term in general. I don't mind letting her be a princess because a princess turns into a queen ;)
... that knows how to hold a hammer.

Flower in Bloom
This girl has more sass than I know what to with but she makes us laugh all day with the funny things she says to us. The way she uses adjectives + new words to string her sentences together amazes me. Watching my baby grow + change from a glow worm to a butterfly has been magical. Sometimes I forget she's only 3 because she acts very grown up but then I'm reminded she's still my baby when she wants her milk + a cuddle. That's why I take so many pics of her when she is asleep. She still looks the same sleeping, as she did after her first nursing session + nap on my tummy in the hospital on that very first day I got to call her mine. Sometimes I struggle with the worry that I'm doing right by her. I never want to push her too much but I want her to be the best version of herself. She challenges me with her will + her spirit gets stronger every minute. She's definately a little quirky which is what I love the most about her.

Austin, I Still Love You...
Drove up from Austin into Round Rock for a small Ikea run turned day trip on I-35 to San Marcos for some light shopping. It rained for a bit in between hopping around town but it felt good because Austin's heat can be heavy. I actually really do love Texas weather, which is odd because in Kansas City I hated being warm + felt as if I was melting very time I stepped outside. Here, not so much.
There have been a lot of times when I cursed the Great State for not being more like the little Midwest. For one thing, every big city in Texas is WAY bigger than KC, equating to millions more people. Plus, neighboring states, like us when we were living in Missouri, travel to + vacation in Texas, adding about a million more people to the pot. The two combined add up to a whole lot of Targets + Starbucks (yes!) but it also means a whole lot of traffic, something I despise. Which is why I usually have a love/hate relationship with Austin on a busy weekend.
This day was completely different though. We had no where to be at a certain time + leisurely went about our day. We went to the botanical garden, walked by the river, walked in the rain, out on the streets finding little hidden pockets of trees. It reminded me of how good Texas has been to us. Seeing how excited Pres was to be on the road going someplace made me think of exactly why we moved here in first place. Any direction we go, there is a city waiting to be conquered.
