Dancing Flower

I've wanted to put her in dance for quite some time but I wanted it to be right for her. Plus I wanted to take her to a specific place for classes. Let's just say she will not do anything she doesn't want to do, so I wanted to make sure she was ready to take direction in a structured setting. That may induce some eye rolls but she's spirited + has always been that way since day one. She seems to really enjoy it + I hope she continues to. If she eventually decides she doesn't want to go anymore then I'll accept it but she will be required to be enrolled in something. It's funny to think of her future + who she will become + what she will want for her life. I can't wait to find out.

August Refresher: Camera Roll

Chocolate almond milk mustache + globs of gloss.
As much as we love to run the streets, we also really do love to be home in our element especially after being out of town. Vacations are fun but with a kid, there's a lot of work involved so really it's like any other normal day with different scenery. The past couple of weeks we've been doing a lot at home. When a new season is on the horizon, I am immediately compelled to switch closets around, organize every shelf + drawer, move furniture around + clean. So in between her time, I am doing something. I feel like our simmer (typo + it stays) is like the midwest winter. The temp outside is so extreme, we avoid leaving at certain points in the day if we don't have to. Even though it will be warm, the nights are cooling down + the sun is setting sooner. Blows my mind that it is almost the fourth quarter of the year. I am so looking forward to September + the rest of the year.
Odd + ends from my phone. Now that I am done with our vacation pics we can move on out of summer + get ready for fall around here. Well, it's supposed to be 100° today but you know what I mean jelly bean.
Went to the beach + brought back a horse. This is Texas but, ok?
Clearly we run a tight ship + she isn't allowed to have any sugar or use a technology device.
Morning story time with the gang.

Port Isabel

On our way home we stopped at a tiny beach town to see a lighthouse.

End of Summer Beach

Now that summer is coming to an end with August almost over, these pics are fitting for closing out our beach time this year. We squeezed in a mini beach sesh on a cloudy day before we left the island.

Our beach bum days are done. It's still very warm but there is definitely a shift in the air once fall starts to hit everywhere else around us. She won't be is preschool this season but we do preschool at home following Montessori basics with a lot of other things in between making our own learning groove. I have spent the past week organizing, pre-fall cleaning + prepping our little study for scheduled subjects. Story time at the library starts back up as well + we are going to try another location just to see what it's like, because we like to live on the wild side ;)

The nerd in me is pretty excited to introduce her to new lessons + freshen up on the ones we have already done but with some new twists. She is really eager to learn but she also loves to play so it's a balancing act I really hope to conquer because she can butter me up + get me to allow her to do her lessons at another time. I never want to be a pusher parent. She's only little once + has a lifetime to learn.

Landlocked Blues

Last week I did some posts on our little summer vacay + now I'm picking up where I left off.

This was my favorite part of our trip. I believe it was technically the bay but no less gorgeous. There were birds + a soft breeze that took the humidity away. I wanted to see the sunset from the west but I did not know what a treat we be getting with all of the cotton candy colors in the sky. To say she loved the setting is an understatement. She danced in her ballet shoes on the sand. We said goodbye to the sun + went for dinner on the beach.

I am still having ocean withdrawals. Being landlocked is something I'm dealing with. I love the ocean. We were at the beach most of our time. There were a few other things we could have done but the beach always won the toss up. The trip was short + sweet because it was last minute + it's a busy time at work for the Mr. I can't wait to go back.
Picking flowers for mama.
