Last Year

Where has the time gone. Is it really February next week?? I swear i blinked + here we are. Since the rush of her birthday + all the holidays, we have been super low key hibernating like baby bears on the cold days here in Texas. We are recharging + enjoying the solace in short days. Don't get me wrong I do love that sun + being in the streets with my tribe, but I feel like winter is a necessary part of the cycle called life. After winter must come spring. If we have a commitment, like her dance + library class, we make it a point to be there or when there is true sunshine, we race towards it, but other than that, forget about it.  I have not minded it one bit. Baby lady either. We're actually not going bonkers! I try to keep her busy + engaged, so that keeps myself busy so we don't always notice the semi permanent gray hue in the normally blue sky. When all else fails we hop on our mini trampoline + scream songs. I feel like we are doing exactly what we should be doing. Leisurely going from one thing to the other + not in a busy rush of schedules. After all, we won't always have the chance for this time. One day when she's older + look back, I'll be greatful that I had the opportunity to just watch her grow + was able to be so present, listen to her thoughts + answer her questions.

That being said, we have had a lot going on + I have been one busy bee! When I have not been busy doing kid stuff with her, I have been emptying every cabinet + drawer, stripping closets, organizing every last nook + moving spaces around. It is so refreshing to feel lighter after changing things around + getting rid of useless things that take up space. The energy immediately changes, like when you open a window + feel the rush of fresh air. Many things are changing this year for us + I feel like I ready for every last bit of it. Before I get into that, I have to finish up last year first.

The Riverwalk during the holidays is magical.
